Massage therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissue of the body to gain a therapeutic response. Soft tissue includes muscle, skin and connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and fascia. It is a form of treatment performed using Swedish massage techniques. The term ‘Swedish Massage’ refers to a variety of techniques that Massage Therapists use depending on your needs. The basic goal of massage therapy is to help the body heal itself and to increase health and wellbeing.
Effective in helping to support your fitness or athletic training, it alleviates the effects of stress, it increases muscle flexibility, improves joint mobility and health, helps to improve your immune system functioning, as well as helping to relieve a variety of painful conditions.

Dr. Bak is the owner, and founder of Balance Health Group, and is the resident Chiropractor. She successfully earned her Doctorate degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, following completion of her Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto. Evelyn has also completed Acupuncture training at McMaster University and been trained in ART© (Active Release Technique), which she utilizes to compliment her chiropractic techniques. Evelyn takes an integrative approach to chiropractic and believes that creating a balance between physical, psychological and emotional wellness is key in the training, treatment and rehabilitative process. She specializes in providing non-invasive treatment and rehabilitative care to patients suffering from an array of symptoms or injuries resulting from sports, motor vehicle accidents, acute and chronic ailments and more. In addition to chiropractic techniques, Dr. Bak has been trained in various therapies and modalities and takes a holistic, integrative approach to her practice.

Stephanie is a Registered Massage Therapist who graduated from Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 1999. She has been working in the Beaches ever since; 6 years in a multidisciplinary clinic and in 2005 opened Urban Calm Therapeutics.

She enjoys working with clients who have a wide range of symptoms and conditions. From the weekend warrior, professional and elite athletes to women in various stages of pregnancy, whether it is a specific condition such as a sprain or strain, an RSI, migraines/headaches, or simply the need to relax she uses various techniques that can take you from deep tissue massage to a very light touch depending on what’s needed. Stephanie enjoys a challenge.

In addition to being an RMT, Stephanie also has achieved her CranioSacral level III through the Upledger Institute.
